How to Give Your Content More Personality

Ever feel like your content might be feeling a little stale? It happens. Sometimes it can be a creativity block, or maybe you're running out of things to talk about. Whatever it might be, we've got some tips to help infuse a little bit of personality into those Instagram posts, blogs, newsletters......everything!

It's essential to keep your viewers engaged. There's different ways to do this, but one of the most tried and true ways is to really speak to your audience by telling a good story. The trick is to come up with a story that has both entertainment value and a message that falls in line with your regular content. This will help to keep your reader engaged for longer.

For example- maybe you are running a travel blog. Why not share a wild experience about something that may have gone wrong on your travels, or strange encounters with other tourists, or maybe even animals!?  Keep it interesting.
Work on creating an emotional response to your content. Maybe that wild story will have readers sitting on the edge of their seat, or laughing so hard they can't breathe.  On the other end of the spectrum, it could be something that brings them to tears. Build your entire story around this tone, while keeping in mind your target audience. Maybe a blog or Instagram post about a new recipe won't land the right way with your entrepreneurial and business focused audience, but perhaps a recipe titled "Cooking a gourmet meal in ten minutes for the time pressed professional" will. Pivot, get creative, and stay relevant with your viewers.

Lastly...stay authentic.  We see this word a lot, but it’s true. Be yourself above everything else. Have your own opinions, and be honest. At the end of it all, look through your copy and ask yourself if you would want to read it. If you find it a little boring...well..we hate to say it... but your viewer will likely be bored as well.

At the end of the day, create content that mattersit’s all about finding who you are. Once you own the personality and tone that is ‘you,’ you’ll be able to deliver a message that gets people engaged and excited to see what you’re going to write about next!
